Japan, Hua Chunying (華春瑩)
I must point out that the territorial disputes between Japan and its neighbors stem from its past aggression and colonial rules. We hope that Japan can face up to history, have a deep reflection on it and take real action to win back trust from its Asian neighbors.
- Hua Chunying (華春瑩), during a regular press briefing (2014.02.05)

Abe's visit to the shrine has already attracted the Chinese people's ire and denunciation. How can a person who is not willing to face up to their own history, to facts, win the trust of the international community or cause people to believe he has a role to play in maintaining regional and global peace and stability?
- Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying (Dec 27, 2013)

Japan, Hua Chunying
The more some Japanese people deny and evade history more difficult it will be for them to get rid of the judgement of the history and the heavier historical burden on their shoulders.

We strongly protest the Internal Affairs Minister's visit to the Yasukuni Shrine. This is another provocative action taken by the Japanese cabinet member following Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's blatant visit to the Yasukuni Shrine. People from China and other Asian countries will by no means allow Japan to set back the wheel of history. We solemnly urge Japan to repent for its past transgressions and change its course.
